![]() ![]() By late 2016, the game had sold over a million copies. Firewatch won the award for Best 3D Visual Experience at the Unity Awards 2016, Best Indie Game at the 2016 Golden Joystick Awards, Best Narrative at the 2017 Game Developers Choice Awards and Debut Game at the 2017 British Academy Games Awards. Yet the presence of technical issues and the game's ending were both subjects of criticism. The game received generally positive reviews, earning praise for its story, characters, dialogue, and visual style. The design draws inspiration from New Deal advertisements by the National Park Service and field research conducted in Yosemite National Park. The game's environment was modelled by Ng, based on a single painting by Moss. The game was directed by Olly Moss and Sean Vanaman, written by Chris Remo, Jake Rodkin, Moss and Vanaman, and produced by Gabe McGill and artist Jane Ng. His exchanges with Delilah inform the process by which their relationship is developed. Henry interacts with Delilah using a walkie-talkie, with the player choosing from dialog options to communicate. A month after his first day at work, strange things begin happening to him and his supervisor Delilah, which connects to a conspired mystery that happened years ago. ![]() The story follows a fire lookout named Henry who works in Shoshone National Forest, a year after the Yellowstone fires of 1988. The game was released in February 2016 for Linux, OS X, PlayStation 4, Windows, and for Xbox One in September 2016, and for Nintendo Switch in December 2018. All in all, a flawed but quite engrossing film, that doesn't quite live up to the darkness of the book.Firewatch is an adventure game developed by Campo Santo and published by the developer in partnership with Panic. I did think on a positive note that Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort was suitably scary, and with the exception of Dumbledore everyone else was well done. I didn't like the third task, and the other two were fine. My brother also noted that he didn't like the execution of the three tasks. Although Gleeson mostly succeeded with his role, I personally think he tried too hard. I have listened to the audio tapes by Stephen Fry, and I imagine Moody's voice as low and gravelly. He looked the part, but his voice wasn't exactly what I had in mind for Moody. Brendan Gleeson is a very talented actor, evident in films like In Bruges and The General. I am also on the fence about Mad Eye Moody. As I've said already, I much prefer Richard Harris as the character. I am not too keen on Michael Gambon's Dumbledore, I just don't remember Dumbledore being violent as they made him. ![]() I did wish they made Crouch's disappearance more mysterious, instead of giving it away, ruining the suspense that was quite compelling up to that scene. Roger Lloyd Pack and David Tennant were fine in their roles as the Crouches, but their characters were changed significantly. I don't think it's as dark as the book, and I wasn't too keen on some of the casting. Speaking of that scene, I adored that dress that Hermione was wearing, Emma Watson looked unrecognisable in that scene. Also the music by Patrick Doyle this time was beautiful. The film looks dazzling, especially the ballroom scene. It was cute, but interfered too much with the dark overtones of the narratives. The only thing I didn't like so much about the book, was the subplot about Hermione trying to help house elves. It is much darker than the previous outings, but not as faithful to the source material. Hermione asks Harry which potion ingredients Snape accused him of stealing and realizes they are the ingredients needed for the Polyjuice Potion. The trio speak about what Karkaroff was showing Snape on his arm.She recommends Harry goes to visit Dumbledore. Hermione believes his death, Harry's scar burning, and the Dark Mark at the Quidditch World Cup are related. Ron thinks that Fudge will prevent the story from leaking out to the public. Mad-Eye appears and Barty quickly leaves. Snape doesn't care about what Karkaroff has to say. Snape ignores him and removes house points from Fawcet and Stebbins, who briefly appear in the scene. Karkaroff tells Snape about the mark of his arm. ![]() The lead singer speaks with the audience and then starts the first song. Flitwick introduces the Weird Sisters at the Yule Ball.Harry tries to speak with Cho Chang, but as she is constantly surrounded by friends, he doesn't get the opportunity. She says yes, and two of their friends make gestures in the background. A Durmstrang student asks a girl to go with him to the Yule Ball. All the Hogwarts students then start to sing the school song. Dumbledore asks his pupils to welcome Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students. ![]()
